Love the Quiet Late Night!

Strangely Quiet

       Late at night through early morning is the quietest part of the day.......

   After everyone has settled in their houses, cars quit going by, and even the dogs are quiet, the beautiful lack of sound occurs. At first it takes you a bit to identify what it is that you're not hearing. Once you do, you never again miss theawesomeness of total quiet when it occurs!!! You jump right in and enjoy it for all it's worth. Or at least I do. hahahahahaha

   There is one other quiet that is.......believe it or not..... even quieter.  This aspect of the late night early morning, quieter then it already was, is...?.... is not realized by those who haven't experienced it, and/or been told about it.

   I remember the first time I ever realized my favorite quiet time had gotten even quieter. So much so, that you felt it was sacred somehow,  and you should only whisper when conversing. 

 What made it quieter then before? It was the snow. We had had about 5 or six inches that night, and insomnia took it's hold on me.  I took a walk and was amazed at how the snow seemed to actually insulate the surroundings, and swallow even the faintest bit of sound. I loved that night and remember it well. To this day I will do all I can to stay up and enjoy those nights to early mornings.

   There are very few of them happening here. It doesn't snow here that often, usually just rains. I live in Poregon, as I have called it for over thirty years now. The area I live in is close to Portland, so we get rain continually, wind, and even more rain, followed by periods of darkness, and (you guessed it) more rain!!! lol
