Hi All,
First of all I wish you a happy new year, with lots of good nights with deep sleep and lovely dreams in you REM sleep, and waking up fully refreshed and armed with lots of energy to face the new day... Or at least little steps in this direction!
And yes, the title line is correct! After trying anything under the sun and giving up on the idea of sleep altogether, I can now actually finally sleep. What changed this? Well, you wouldn't believe it, no pill or changes in habits, staying off food late night, keeping off the coffee, exercise or anything. No, simply a lovely quiet and relaxed and loving boyfriend. 3 months into the relationship I could finally sleep again, and in the past 6 months I have only had 1 or 2 bad nights!!! And no other boyfriend ever had this effect in the past, so I have come to realise that in my case there were some things obviously churning around in the brain that just couldn't be laid to rest with any voodoo habits, pills (other than knock-out sleeping pills - with you can't take for too long) , meditation or anything.
I realise this is not a solution any-one can follow easily. But I wanted to share, just to know that it can happen: not sleeping for 40 years and then suddenly, Sleep is back! I hope you too find a way and are able to sink back into the good sleeping habit again in 2012!
Cheers,
Marjoline

Comment by Marjoline Hunter on January 1, 2012 at 1:49pm Thanks, yes, I agree, peace of mind is a wonderful thing, alas not something one can buy off-the-shelf. :(
Good luck, I hope it finds you too!
Comment by Vincent D on January 2, 2012 at 3:03am great news Marjoline, now you can catch up on 40 years of sleep (just not all in one go lol)
this doesn't bode so well for me as my wife of 10 years has just left me a couple of months ago and i haven't had more than 4 hours sleep a night since if that, but 2012 is here and i am staying positive that it will be a good year, who knows whats round the corner to help us all back off to the world of nod
Comment by Marjoline Hunter on January 2, 2012 at 8:05am Gee Vincent, that's tough! I've learnt that something like that can take years to get over, so just give yourself the time you need, and especially, spoil yourself a little! Thanks for the kinds words, and look after yourself, and good for you for staying positive!
